A brand new MUSIC MINUS ONE series of 4 compositions are now available from Potenza Music Publishing. They feature the NUJAZZ ALTERNATIVE VIRTUAL ORCHESTRA and solo Tenor saxophone. Jerry is performing.They are available with a performance and accompaning MP3 track. SPRINGTIME FOR LOVERS is a contemporary jazz ballad with orchestra with plenty of room for soloing. THE BOTTOM LINE, is a 21st century Pachebel’s canon with a 5 bar bass line that repeats for nearly 2 minutes while building new melodic line over the top of the bass. Also joining the MUSIC MINUS ONE series, comes MR. SLICK, a smooth 12/8 shuffle depicting a very cool dude sashaying down the street. SMOKEY BACON is brand new to the Music Minus One collection. As the title implies, this is a “down home” groove . This 6/8 Jazz waltz with a slice of funk has an infectious tune attached. It develops into a punchy accompaniment for the ending solo. Performance MP3 and accompaniment MP3 are included for all the works in the series. Jerry Grant’s solos are transcribed or improvise your own with the chords on top. Jerry was awarded 1st place in the International Tuba & Euphonium Association, 2021 competition. It was the Harvey Phillips award for tuba featured in a chamber ensemble. SONIC GAMES for Trombone, Tuba & Piano was commissioned in 2019 for the Low Brass Festival in Alcobaca, Portugal, headed by the world famous tubist, Sergio Carolino. The concert’s recording is in the Music For Tuba section on this site. The ITEA also chose Jerry’s work TIME CYCLES for Tuba and Electronics, as a required piece to perform for the 2019 ITEA performance competition.

The Nujazz Alternative Virtual Orchestra with Jerry live on saxophone debuted in Grass Valley Calif. In April 2016 with the newest album, VIEW FROM THE MOUNTAIN – Jerry Grant & the Nujazz Alternative Virtual Orchestra, released in April, 2018 and available on iTunes. It features 4 great live musicians, along with the virtual tracks. With Jerry on tenor saxophone, it features Dave Riddles on Baritone saxophone. Dave is also a renowned Los Angeles studio bassoonist, having performed on 1,000 plus movies and TV shows. Another L.A. veteran, Phil Kember, performed on trombone. Guitarist, Ananda Vaughan, a composer in his own right, rounded out the quartet.
